Face surgery recovery

Facial procedures — facelift, rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty, otoplasty, lipofilling — heal in visible stages. Bruising and swelling dominate the first two weeks, then refinement continues quietly for months.

Days 1–3
Rest with the head elevated, cold compresses where advised, mild discomfort controlled with prescribed medication.
Week 1
Sutures or nasal splints reviewed at the clinic. Most patients are comfortable at home and off strong painkillers.
Weeks 2–3
Bruising fades and most patients return to desk work or social life with light makeup where permitted.
Months 1–3
Residual swelling settles; scars soften. Sun protection and scar care are essential.
Months 6–12
Final contour appears, particularly after rhinoplasty and lipofilling.

Breast and upper-body recovery

Breast augmentation, lift, reduction, reconstruction, gynecomastia correction and arm lift share a similar rhythm: protect the repair early, then rebuild movement gradually.

Days 1–3
Supportive garment or surgical bra worn continuously; arms kept below shoulder level.
Week 1
Short walks encouraged to reduce clot risk. Wound review at the clinic.
Weeks 2–4
Return to office work; no lifting, pushing or upper-body training.
Weeks 4–6
Gradual return to full activity and sport once cleared at follow-up.
Months 3–12
Shape settles, scars mature and fade with consistent scar care.

Week 1
Drains, if used, are removed at review. Sleeping position adapted to the treated area.
Weeks 2–4
Desk work resumes for most patients; swelling and firmness are expected and normal.
Weeks 4–8
Lymphatic massage where prescribed; progressive return to training after clearance.
Months 3–12
Contour refines as swelling resolves; scars flatten and lighten.

Related procedures

Week 1
Walking is fine; prolonged sitting, cycling and tampons are avoided.
Weeks 2–4
Swelling settles significantly; light activity resumes.
Weeks 6+
Intimacy and sport resume only after clearance at follow-up.

Recovery questions

How long is recovery after plastic surgery in Lebanon?
Most patients of Dr. Antoine Abi Abboud return to desk work within one to three weeks depending on the procedure, and to full sport between four and eight weeks. Final results appear between three and twelve months as swelling resolves and scars mature.
Who follows up with me after surgery?
Dr. Antoine Abi Abboud reviews his own patients personally at AAA Clinic in Beirut and at Mount Lebanon Hospital, with remote follow-up by video and messaging for patients returning to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh or Europe.
How long should international patients stay in Beirut?
As a general rule, plan seven to ten days in Beirut for facial or breast surgery and ten to fourteen days for larger body-contouring procedures, so that the first post-operative reviews happen before you travel.
How do I look after my scars?
Keep incisions clean and dry as instructed, avoid tension on the wound, use the prescribed scar cream or silicone once healing allows, and protect scars from sun for at least a year.
